The Richland College men's soccer team has suspended all activities pending an investigation by the NJCAA.
In the second half of an Oct. 21 game with Mountain View College, a fight broke out on the field between players of both teams. Richland, which had defeated Mountain View earlier in the season by a 6-0 margin, was again leading 3-0 when the incident took place. The game was canceled.
Richland Athletic Director Tony Summers declined to comment on the situation until the investigation by the NJCAA is complete.
"There is nothing we can report at this time," said Summers. "Until the NJCAA finishes its' work, we cannot talk about the situation."
Summers indicated that the investigation may be complete within a few days, but could drag on for a few weeks. The team has canceled all games and is holding no official practices until further notice from the NJCAA.
