Spring semester brings changes to registration

Don't wait until the last moment to register for the spring semester because you won't be able to.
New restrictions in the registration process will apply for upcoming spring semester registration. The registration started on Nov. 20 and the last day to register is Jan. 16.
Cindy Berry, director of Academic Advising, said, "The only major change for spring registration is the requirement that any student registering for the first time has to be registered by Jan. 16."
The date is set up a few days before the semester starts on Jan. 22 to make any adjustments if needed.
"We are using the 17th and 18th as days where we can work with students to answer additional questions and do the additional preparation work, in hopes that they will be better prepare for the semester when it starts," Berry said.
The other thing that has changed is the Saturday registration, which will occur earlier.
"Instead of it being the Saturday before classes start, it's the Saturday prior to those last three days to register. It's Jan. 12," Berry said.
Berry said it's very important to register within that time period. Students still will be able to make changes in their schedules if needed until the second class meeting.
"Students need to register as early as they possibly can. We have numerous full classes already," Berry said.
For students who choose to register after the deadline, the only option will be the flexible term classes.
"They just cannot register for the first time for the semester past Jan.16. They will be able to register for the flex term classes, but they won't be able to register for the sixteen week long semester classes."
During Jan.17 and 18 there will be no regular registration. The Advising Center will only look at the cases of students who need to apply some changes to their schedules, drop classes, and they will be able to answer any additional questions.
The Advising Center recommends that students register online if possible. However, advisers are available in T-180.
Spring semester classes begin Jan. 22. The campus will be closed Jan. 21 for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
