Walking into the student lounge at Eastfield, one wouldn't suspect something out of the ordinary is occurring on campus. The line for Subway is winding around the corner and students are hustling between classes. However, one look into the parking lot tells otherwise.
A long line of students outside of the gymnasium, tickets in hand, are waiting for the opportunity to hear the president speak. Students started lining up as early as 7 a.m. in hopes of getting the best seat.
DCCCD executives and media personnel hustled to set up equipment on the gym risers before security closed the doors. Gates brought in to block off walkways are carefully being put in place around campus to secure the area.
Preparing for the presidential visit, sound checks in the gymnasium were accompanied by test runs of a student singing the National Anthem.
A vertical hanging American Flag to the left and a large sign with "American Jobs Act" lined with red, white and blue streamers above the podium sets the stage.
All that's missing is the man in charge.
