Annuals, Sweet Sister

Following a two year slump from their major label sophomore album Such Fun, North Carolina indie-pop band Annuals are set to return to the market with Sweet Sister, a five song EP to be released March 30.
Starting off as a side project of founding member Adam Barker, Annuals have slowly been gaining the attention of mainstream audiences. From making their national television debut on Late Night with Conan O'Brian, to being featured on Veronica Mars, the band has made a steady presence in the music world with its unique sound and thoughtful lyrics.
The Sweet Sister offers experimental and eclectic arrangements that will not leave fans of the band disappointed. Stand out tracks "Turncloaking" and "Holler Howl" both offer the listener a glimpse of the Annuals sounds and musical flexibility.
Starting off with an understated crescendo guitar, which is soon joined by a modified voice, "Turncloacking," is a mellow track with an individual sound. The steady tempo and flowing rhythm compliment the pot-luck style instrumentation of the piece. Adding to its "dream-like" feel, the track offers an almost sleepy vocal presentation. Together, these factors make "Turncloaking," a refreshing and exciting addition to Sweet Sister.
"Holler and Howl" starts off with an introduction that one might expect to find on Sesame Street. With looping and fast-paced beats accompanied by random brass horns, the track transports the listener to a circus atmosphere.
When it comes to Sweet Sister, fans both old and new will not be disappointed, and that two year wait will be well worth it come March 30.
