An award-winning science fiction writer will be part of the 28th annual Richland Literary Festival. Tony Daniel will be the featured speaker, starting at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, in the lower level of the library.
Daniel has also published an award-winning short story collection, "The Robot's Twilight Companion," and may be best known for his most recent novel, "Guardian of Night."
He was a Hugo finalist in 1996 for his short story, "Life on the Moon," which also won the Asimov's Reader's Choice Award.
The literary festival will also feature seminars later in the week.
Tonight, March 1, there will be a continuation of the discussion on the novel, "Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger on the mezzanine level of the library from 5:40 to 7 p.m.
The literary festival will also feature seminars for those interested in journal writing, poetry and prose. Editors of literary journals from Richland, the University of North Texas and the University of Texas at Dallas will discuss their journals and offer advice to aspiring writers from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, March 3, followed by student readings from 12:30 on.
Richland's English faculty will share their own original works of poetry and prose from 10:10 to 11:05 a.m. on Friday, March 4.
The festival is sponsored by the Office of Student Life and the School of World Languages, Cultures and Communications.
