The Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) is taking the concept of "Going Green" a step further.

The DCCCD is now part of the Internet site for carpoolers/ride sharers, AlterNetRides (ANR). ANR is a free nationwide service.

The site allows people to post notices to either be a passenger and share transportation costs or take turns driving.  People can find a ride to campus or a ride across the country.

The DCCCD's site will allow you to list specifications such as how much you want to spend or charge, smoking or not, even what type of radio listening you prefer. The district encourages carpooling for all, but states that employees are not allowed to ride with students.

In an effort to continue to advocate sustainability, Richland has 14 designated prime parking spaces for carpoolers and low emission car drivers.  These spaces are located in rows D1A & D1B facing Sabine Hall.

Campus Director of Facilities Management Eddie Hueston says "adding the parking spaces was part of the overall plan for the construction of the new science building and in keeping with the requirements for the science building to be certified as a Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED) building."

To sign up, simply log on to AlterNetRides.com, locate Richland College and begin taking advantage of these benefits.
