With the autumn season comes cooler weather, color changes in the leaves, festive holidays and pumpkins. Every year the Dallas Arboretum hosts its annual Fall Festival that displays various pumpkins, squash and gourds.

The fall festival started Sept. 17 and continues through Nov. 23. The theme for this year follows Cinderella's magical fairy-tale journey.

According to the Dallas Arboretum's website, Cinderella's village is composed of four different cottages that display 1,200 various types of pumpkins. The attraction is a walk through transition of the fairy tale that creates an enchanting atmosphere for visitors.

Individuals are able to see Cinderella's cottage where she lived with her ugly stepsisters and horrible stepmother. The ballroom displays her missing glass slipper when she ran away from the prince and where her fairy godmother made her wish come true.

Anyone seeking to be a prince or princess for the day can ride in her carriage before it returns as a pumpkin at midnight.

Attendees can purchase their own magical pumpkin from Tom Thumb's Pumpkin Patch located at the center of the village.

Individuals can also participate in scavenger hunts to find the various types of pumpkins or even spot the various items hidden at Cinderella's village.

The Dallas Arboretum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Ticket prices vary from $8 to $12, depending on the person's age. Arboretum members are granted free admission. Parking at the Dallas Arboretum is $7.

The pumpkin fairy tale at the Arboretum introduces festive activities and provides beautiful scenery for pictures. The Dallas Arboretum's website,  www.dallasarboretum.org, provides special deals and activities for the Fall Festival.
