Maybe it was all the hype of "Star Wars: Episode I-The Phantom Menace 3D" that pulled so many fans to Sci-Fi Expo on Feb. 11-12, or maybe the force was too strong to resist. Either way, the convention drew a large crowd of costumed crusaders who, despite the weather, took advantage of the opportunity to get a bit nerdy.
The 84th annual Academy Awards is less than a week away and it doesn't take a math genius to realize that the biggest or most important Oscar to be had is Best Picture. This is the coveted prize in the industry, but are any of these pictures really worth your time? It's no doubt that some fantastic movies were MIA this year (cough, "Drive," cough, "Shame," cough) but out of the lucky nine the Academy nominated, there are definitely some real winners here.

An "exciting occassion" in a difficult time
The Queen was "absolutely delighted" when the engagement of Prince William to his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton, was announced in November, said a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman. William, second in line to the British throne, and Kate, the daughter of middle class commoners, have told royal aides that they want their wedding to be "a people's ceremony," said the United Kingdom's The Telegraph.

Hundreds of visitors recently descended on Fair Park to participate in the largest Celtic festival in the southwest. Every year, during the first weekend in March, the Southwest Celtic Music Association (SCMA), headquartered in Dallas, hosts the North Texas Irish Festival.
Third Day never fails to impress. The southern-rock-influenced Christian band performed an awesome show on their Make Your Move Tour at the Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie, March 19. They were joined by another acclaimed Christian band, Tenth Avenue North, and upcoming artist Trevor Morgan.

Monday nights really sizzle – with love, romance and sex – in two of the funniest sitcoms on TV. They are "Two and a Half Men" and "Mike and Molly" from 8 to 9 p.m. on CBS. I think these two sex-driven comedies are clear-cut winners because they have three key elements that make the shows totally enjoyable: intriguing characters, really funny dialogue and a believable plot.
